Academic Affairs

From Amelia, our JCR Academic Affairs Officer

Hello, hello!

My name’s Amelia and I’m the Academic Affairs Officer. My job is essentially to make your academic experience at Lincoln as useful as it can be. This involves running study sessions (currently in the form of Shut Up and Write! Once a week), managing the subject mentors, liaising with college when academic issues come up, but most importantly, helping you with any issues you may have that affect your academics – whether that’s tutors, essay writing, studying, even not knowing where to look for funding, I can help with all of that.

Subject Mentors 2022-2023

The subject mentors are another point of call, especially for first year, whereby they can explain what you should expect during the term and over vacs, and can be really useful to talk to if you’re worried about academics. After all, they did it just last year, so know what you’re going through.

Shut Up and Write!

Shut Up and Write! Sessions are Pomodoro-style study groups, where we work for 25 minute bursts, followed by a 5 minute break. These will happen every week this term, from 11:00 to 12:30 on a Saturday, in the Lower Lecture Room, with plenty of high quality snacks!

Additionally, the Study Skills lecturers run a similar session every Monday afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00 in the Beckington Room. See the JCR Calendar on the homepage for exact times and venues!

Most exciting of all, all term there will be free stationary in the JCR, provided by me. If there is anything that has ran out/you want buying, please let me know.

This term there are some exciting events coming up… TBC.
